Hadwen Park Church’s Comprehensive SUNDAY CURRICULUM FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Infants and Toddlers (0-3)— 10 AM-11PM for children 18 months and under. Infants experience God’s love through developing trust and feelings of security and love by their family and caregivers. Hadwen Park Church members provide that security, trust, and love by fulfilling their baptismal vows to love and care for the wee ones each Sunday morning through nursery care. Parents are invited to leave their children with childcare providers who are devoted to caring for the physical and spiritual needs of your wee ones. So come and feel free to participate in the Sunday Worship Celebration.
Pre-school to K - Let the Children Come
SUNDAY SCHOOL 10AM –11AM Let the Children Come Pre-school to Kindergarten curriculum offers a multifaceted approach to the colorful characters of the Old Testament and the wonders of Jesus’ birth and life. Stories come alive through vibrant, interactive visuals, games, group play, sing alongs and more. Your children will be invited to see, hear, touch, and taste the richness of scripture from week to week.
Elementary Children (grades 1-5)
SUNDAY SCHOOL-9:15 AM – 10AM - Through Bible stories we teach models of good global citizenry--what it is to love your neighbor, be kind to others, respect one another, obey, learn self-love. The arts play a part in reinforcing each lesson.
Tweens (grades 6-8)
This is an age where children begin to open up with questions and concerns. Our class focuses on using faith based stories to teach and discuss values such as kindness, love, service to others, self-control, peer pressure, caring for others, community, ecological awareness, excellence, responsibility, integrity. Often lessons will be intertwined with youth group activities after the worship service.
Teenagers (ages 13 &14) Confirmation Classes
Thirteen year old Confirmands meet with Pastor Toni every Sunday morning from 9:15 -10AM Fourteen year old Confirmands meet every other Sunday after worship service from 11:00AM – 1:30PM Confirmands will spend one year understanding and building Christian community, followed by a second year of focusing on adulthood skills, pilgrimage, and focus on mission, ministry, and beliefs. Confirmation class discussions can range from prayer, to morality, to peer pressure and faith, loneliness, views of God, and much more!
Children’s Worship Chapel
Following the Ascription of Praise at the 10:00AM Worship Celebration, children are invited to leave for children's worship. Children’s Worship Chapel is an opportunity for children (ages 6-12) to create their own worship time with guided activities, children’s sermon, and worship bulletins. The theme for worship generally follows the lectionary (ties into what the adults hear in worship). Each session also has an art project or activity that reinforces the message of the day.
Pee Wees (4-6)
Through music, coloring, and simple arts and craft activities your toddler will have the chance to play and interact with their church friends as they learn about God’s love through sharing and caring. Occasional appropriate DVD lessons will be utilized.
All Stars (7-11)
Jr. and Sr. Youth Group Meetings (ages 12-18) 6:30 pm
In addition to Sunday school and Confirmation class the teens gather every other Sunday after the Worship Celebration for food, fun, fellowship and learning! Each Youth group gathering is different, but the main goal is to give young people a safe space to hang out and be with each other. Activities vary, but have included inviting other youth groups for fellowship, cooking a meal for each other (or in service to another organization), movies, youth discussions, art projects and the occasional trip (to a movie, restaurant, bowling, skating, or service project).
Youth Mission (age limit: 13 yrs to participate) Hadwen Park Church youth are engaged in many mission projects throughout the year. We believe in teaching our teens the spiritual value of service to others. Recently our teens boiled hard boil eggs and collected warm clothing items to share with the Worcester Fellowship Homeless church community. Our young people have also had the privilege of going to Chile to learn about its people, culture, and environment. This coming summer many of them will travel to our nation’s capital to tour the White House, meet the President, visit the Smithsonian and Holocaust Museum, and of course the Lincoln Memorial. During this educational trip they will have the opportunity to interact with an ecumenical and diverse group of youth from Congdon Street Baptist Church of Rhode Island. Check out our youth blog as the kids share their daily experiences on this memorable trip.
